Day Trips and Beaches in Costa Rica
La Fortuna is located at the base of the Arenal Volcano and has several hot spring parks where you can enjoy the naturally heated thermal waters and gardens. From the Tabacon Hot Springs near La Fortuna, you can see the dramatic Volcano and it’s activity. The Arenal Volcano National Park has guides which offer a safe way to view the volcano area. There are 5 aerial canopy tours in La Fortuna as well as the Hanging Bridges or hikes up to Cerro Chato or the La Fortuna waterfalls on the east side of the Volcano. The Venado Caverns provide an exciting cave exploring adventure.
Monteverde Cloud Forests Biological Reserve boasts over 450 bird species sighted. Monteverde is 2.5 hours from the villa by car and is a very memorable and beautiful drive. It can also be reached by bus, by boat across the lake then bus and also through a tour agency in La Fortuna by horseback. It is one of the most outstanding wildlife refuges in the tropics. Monteverde Canopy tour is one of the longest zip lines with 15 cables and platforms in the trees and also has a tram and suspended bridge which gives you another vantage point to view Costa Rica. There are also many arts and craft galleries and restaurants to enjoy.
There are beaches less than 90 minutes away and there is great surfing, world class sports fishing, boating swimming, snorkeling and deep sea diving. Some of our favorite beaches are Coco beach, Playa Hermosa, Playa Ocotal, Flamingo and Tamarindo.
